Dog-Friendly Brewery Guide: Belmont & Plaza Midwood

Plan ahead with our guide to dog-friendly breweries like Catawba, Legion, Pilot and Resident Culture.

Headed out for an afternoon of brewery hopping and want to know where you can take your pup? We’ve got you covered.

The good news: Dogs are welcome in virtually all Charlotte breweries’ outdoor spaces. The great news: They’re also allowed inside many local craft beer hot spots, thanks to a new law signed by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper this past summer.

To help you make the most of your hops – and hopping – we’ve rounded up the pup policies at 30+ Charlotte craft beer spots. While we were at it, we also asked about other dog-friendly brewery perks like treats, water bowls and dog-focused events.

Check out our previous guides to dog-friendly breweries in South End and LoSo or NoDa and its nearby neighborhoods, or dive in to our latest list from Plaza Midwood below.

Catawba Brewing Company

Dogs allowed inside? Yes

Your four-legged drinking partner is welcome to join you inside and out at Catawba Brewing Company’s Charlotte location. Nestled in the Belmont neighborhood near Plaza Midwood, the brewery offers plenty of space for your dog to feel comfortable, even when there’s a crowd. There are also water bowls for your friend – and Catawba’s craft beer and hard seltzers for you.

Legion Brewing Company

Dogs allowed inside? No

Neither the original Legion Brewing in Plaza Midwood nor the newer location in SouthPark allow dogs inside because both prepare food on-site. Instead, grab a picnic table or a spot along the drink rail and a water bowl for your pup. You’ll both enjoy the people watching along Commonwealth as you sip your Juicy Jay or savor Sunday brunch.

Pilot Brewing Company

Dogs allowed inside? No

Dogs are welcome outside at this Charlotte nanobrewery that specializes in experimental, small-batch beers. The patio features a walk-up window so you don’t have to leave your furry friend alone while you order. Be advised outdoor seating is a bit limited, but does include picnic tables, bar chairs and a few umbrellas. If your pup’s the thirsty type, you might want to bring your own water bowl in case the brewery’s are already taken by other four-legged visitors.

Resident Culture Brewing Company

Dogs allowed inside? Yes

Your pup will be in good company at this spacious Plaza Midwood brewery, which allows dogs both inside and out. The outdoor area features plenty of seating, water bowls and a pet waste station complete with bags. Head inside to snag a free treat from the bar for good boys and girls. Check Resident Culture’s Facebook page for dog-friendly events with Humane Society of Charlotte, adoption pop-ups, pet photo shoots and more.

You know your dog best. Consider your four-legged friend’s comfort around crowds, noise and other dogs – and remember not all humans are as eager to say hello as your dog can be. All brewery-going canines should be leashed, friendly and vaccinated unless otherwise noted.
